A crane flew
03:06
|
|||
A crane flew
a crane flew
o’er the thatched roof
as we walked
lost in a city of water
climbing to the top of the stairs
watching you sit down on a chair
meet me in the cold morning dew
mist rising up to the moon
all the water birds fly
no more floating in time
stretched like i outstretch my hands
now a greater distance to transcend
a penciled portrait
boats crowd the bay
chaos in the Bosphorus
fades when we stay
lost in a city of water
come see the anchor in the floorboard

Guests
02:45
|

guests
when I hear you talk
i know you're talking to me
not just someone
telling the same stories
your wanting to know who i am
makes me want to be true to me
a forest, a canopy, a coat of moss
in a sea of green
inside the ink of an aster’s sleeve,
a seed, a sole berry
lift us towards the ceiling
this aching, our designation
guests encamped on a molten earth
pulsing with sidereal dreams
to hear a mountain stream
and feel time’s currents between our skin

See you all the time
04:20
|
|||
see you all the time
I saw you through a sea of eyes
you pulled me through a dark decade’s night, it's true
(there's nothing to do)
except hold onto that moment
you were the sun, mount tabor’s heights
we held the light
and shone it on each other
i could see you see me see you
(I can’t believe it’s you)
but then came the clear sky
i tried to be true so i left you
(who knows what’s true)
sitting on that park bench
perched on the back
the look in your eyes that night
a vigil’s candle light
i see you all the time
i see you all the time
now I'm sitting where you were then
I went out, looking for you
(again i missed you)
I don't need to know more than your arms and your shoulders
that supreme embrace
has hallowed mine
i feel you all the time
i feel you all the time

You're living there
03:58
|
|||
living there
“I know you’re living there”
and our view has lost some scope
my back porch’s got no empty chairs
no paths remain, not one
i visit the woods of childhood
weave through the trees now towering
and this chapter is letting the rules rule
the ones I once professed not to know
what we should do
not what we want to
locked passports
masked smiles
the communal good
it was sown but never reaped,
shown time again
that we know
but must carry on
with those close
“And I love you to this day.”
sun's up, sun's down
round time

Umber
03:00
|
|||
umber
walk onto the ashes laid
fields of massive gray
can’t see through walls now
or hear in empty spaces
words handwritten on shipping crates
stacks of shelters
locked in boxes
eyes behind the closets
today I caught a feather
arched above the empty lot
floating down
water is the mirror of our death
our life, we can find light within us
the glitter of hearts in a garbage can
we hold our breath
under water
the winter sky obscured the earth
the blue of the water, swallowed
patience burns in embers
a single swing unchained
where the moon still shines in splendor
the night’s dayglow undiminished
through the earth and into you

Comb the night
02:14
|
|||
comb the night
drag your comb
across the night
streams of water
don't you fight
the way
it rocks you
to and home
the moment we flew on
the moment we flew on
kings and queens back in the woods
castles crumbling
birds now build
sounds wander
sky and sea
as long as we can dream
as long as we can dream

Can't say
02:30
|
|||
love song #6
every window is gaping
the fish tank and the screen door, too
across the world i found you
but you are across the world
i could take a boat to water
paddle my heart...
where is tomorrow?
i wish you were...
sitting beside me
telling me a story...
or just listening.
i can't say if i will paddle away:
what if i drop it
and it floats away?

Don't get lost looking
04:04
|
|||
don’t get lost looking
raised up like the sides of a barn
everyone moving together
coordinated freedom
picking up sticks
and empty spaces
let them echo and enter in
constructing some new emptiness
see you listening to me
come to me glinting
your eyes the sun
but i can’t find the door
careful not to get stuck
in some vindaloo station
keep entering and
never finding the platform
i don't find you
but I don't get lost looking
i wonder where you are
i wonder where you are
walk into a circle
space stars and storms
we felt the past and the light
a yellow robe forming
a spiral rose
[slow whirls and soft collides
a sourceless corrie]
no skyglow as i touch your bones
trees grafted together
light smocked and gathered
tucked beneath the rocks
[don't want to get stuck
in some transcontinental station]
lush gryke
full of ferns
i don't find you
as we lay on the mosses
but I don't get lost looking
I don't get lost looking
don’t find you
but I don't get lost looking
I wonder where you are
